ACCORDING TO WICKED:

Two friends who share a common interest … each other. A temperamental beauty with no luck in romance. Her ego-driven best friend with his womanizing ways. Can their lives and loves become an open book?

ACCORDING TO US:

Clichés are around for a reason. They work; they’re true; they happen; they’re good.

As you may have figured out by that introduction, you will find Writer’s Block a movie filled with clichés — albeit, the good, sexy, and nasty kind.

In this movie, Julia Ann and Steven St. Croix play platonic writing partners. With a book due in the morning, they still need to write all the sex scenes. Steven claims to be having a difficult time because he has “writer’s block,” but thinks having sex with Julia would cure it. Julia doesn’t think so. [Ain’t we all been there?]

The duo begins by writing about Kelly Kline and Alex Sanders in a pool boy scene. It’s been done, but it works! Then Julia’s best friend jessica drake arrives. Her boyfriend has been unfaithful, so naturally Julia comforts her — while St. Croix imagines Julia comforting Jessica a bit more intimately! [Golly, who might have seen that coming?]

While jessica freshens up, a pizza boy surprises her in the bathroom. Although probably the most-used porn cliché in the book, with jessica and hunky Eric Masterson, it becomes a new turn on an old song. [Nothing wrong with a good classic, which jessica was not when she shot this, but has certainly become by now.]

Next we get to watch St. Croix as he “remembers” taking Devon Michaels for a test drive in her new car. Following this, Julia and Steven discuss advantages of writing a purely oral sex scene. They both imagine it — with each other of course! [Note to self: Work with Julia on next writing project.]

When their agent has accepted their manuscript, Julia realizes that she’s in love with Steven, her best friend and business partner (Another cliché, but hey, it happens!), so they celebrate with scorching sex! [Of course they do. … Of course we are talking about Julia Ann, so a little loose with the plot seems just fine thank you.]

All “beaury” may be tempermental, no?
